If you’ve ever wondered what those “Guaranteed Analysis” numbers you see on a pet food label are all about, you’re in good company. Most pet owners actually grossly misinterpret these numbers. Consequently, they end up doing unknowing harm to their animals. Those numbers CAN reveal marginally meaningful information but only if you have the right tools for conversion. I’m very happy to say that RMF now has its own GA conversion tool.
Why this information is IMPORTANT
Pet owners need to know what they’re REALLY feeding their animals, including the macronutrient ratio as expressed in percentage of FUEL VALUE or CALORIES. That’s the information that will allow us to make informed choices!
DIY using RMF is still best
Naturally I hope everyone is doing the right thing and prepping their dog’s food themselves. It’s the only way you can get even close to what your dog really needs. But if you’re contemplating buying one of those fancy grinds on line, take a minute to run the Guaranteed Analysis numbers through the converter. And I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read the information I’ve shared above and below the calculator about what these numbers mean.
