THE TRUTH ABOUT “TITERING”

Remember that scene in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” where Richard Dreyfuss realizes he’s been lied to about the air being poisoned? He removes his gas mask, takes a deep breath and proclaims that there’s nothing wrong with the air.

That’s exactly what we pet owners should be doing with regard to vaccination.  Calling the bluff.  The evidence against it is so preponderant and the excuses and doctored stats that its supporters use so flimsy and nonsensical that the whole practice and all of the mistaken thinking that underlies it need to be discarded completely.  Instead of doing that, even some “vaccine skeptics” are acting like Richard does in an earlier scene in the movie where he suspects he’s been lied to but keeps the mask on ‘just in case.’

That’s what titering usually is.  It amounts to pet owners allowing themselves to be taken in by the lies, just in case they’re true.

The motive

To the vet industry’s chagrin, almost everyone now agrees that it has been guilty of “over-vaccinating”, minimally.  So naturally this is going to result in less “compliance”.  Given this, from the veterinary perspective, titering accomplishes a two-fold purpose.  One, it allows vets to salvage some of the revenues they stand to lose because pet owners are choosing to vaccinate less or forego vaccination altogether.  And, two, it allows them to perpetuate the idea that disease causation is random, indiscriminate and dependent on the body’s “immunity” to fight off the “attackers”.  Unfortunately, the strategy seems to be working well, thanks to the failure of dog owners to grasp a full understanding of the flaws in the germ/vaccine theory and the truth about the causes of disease.  This keeps them/you/us vulnerable to silly ideas like titer testing.

A delusion of safety

From a pet owner’s perspective, titering seems worth its hefty financial price tag. They get to eschew vaccination with the same peace of mind they used to experience when they took their animals in for annual shots.  But it’s nothing but false security because it means nothing about the health of the dog.  Anyone who thinks a titer test is going to give them any indication whether the dog is “susceptible” to disease needs some schooling about what antibodies REALLY DO in the body. I’ll cover this in my next blog post.

When is it valid?

As I explain in my book, titering is not a reliable indicator of health in a dog. But it can sometimes be justified if it is used to get our dogs into places they would otherwise not be welcome. These would include boarding facilities, dog daycare and grooming shops.  This reason is legitimate.

When is it a waste of money?

When the truth about vaccination and disease prevention are understood, it becomes apparent that titering is not harmless, conservative, cautious or reasonable.  Unless it is used as a “get-in-without-getting-jabbed” pass, it is a waste of energy, time and your pet’s blood. More importantly, it serves to further empower the already overpowered veterinary community.

Causation realities

Rather than buying into the latest income-generating schemes of the veterinary profession, pet owners need to empower themselves with knowledge about the truth regarding disease causation.  Most of us have accepted the medical propaganda that disease is complicated and difficult to understand. We believe the lie that we lay types can’t hope to wrap our feeble minds around it.  However, it’s really not complicated at all.

Causes are not mysterious

The simple truth is, disease can’t happen unless its causes do, and the causes are easily traced.  We are not victims of disease, we are its creators, with every mouthful of “food” we eat and unhealthful habit we pursue.  Thusly, we create diseases in our dogs as well.  Disease is NEVER caused by exposure to “pathogens”.  In fact, there is no such thing as a “pathogen”.  The cause for all disease is overall bodily toxicosis, or the poisoning of the body with uneliminated waste.  Here’s a better description, written by the amazing and exemplary Dr. Herbert Shelton:

“Disease has a sole unitary cause. It is instituted and conducted by the body itself. It is the only organized entity capable of coordinating the various processes of disease. Disease is occasioned when toxic materials that have been generated within or taken in from without are uneliminated due to the body’s inability to cope with them. These debilitate and devitalize the organism until, at a point where it can no longer tolerate the growing toxic load at its mean level of vitality, the body institutes a crisis, redirecting its body energies to the enemy within.”

The “invader” that most commonly comes to mind in “infectious” disease is bacteria. But the truth is, bacteria don’t qualify as foreign invaders.  They are a deeply innate part of every living organism, always present. They are there by implicit invitation and without them life as we know it would not be possible.

“Pathogens” are our friends

One of the jobs of bacteria in the body is to decompose (eat) dead waste.  They are our body’s garbage collectors.  Nobody’s been attacked when bacteria consume the dead matter in our bodies.  Did the burger you ate for dinner last night “attack” you?  Did the kibble you put in your dog’s bowl “attack” him?  If so, you can truthfully say that disease is attacking you and your dog.

“Immunity” is not possible

The concept of “immunity” is accepted unquestioningly by both allopathic and holistic practitioners.  So, it may surprise you to learn that there is no such thing as “immunity”.

We need to understand how much control we actually have over whether our animals get sick. It is extremely important to recognize that immunity as a concept relating to health is a falsehood.  Living bodies are capable of defending against real threats, but so-called pathogens don’t fulfill the criteria of a threat.  Bacteria are saprotrophs; that is, they eat dead things.  They do us, and our dogs, the favor of dealing with waste that is created from various sources within our bodies.  When bodies are burdened with too much waste for it to handle, disease is the natural consequence.  The real cause of ALL disease is waste that accumulates from the inside.  Therefore, it’s impossible for any organism to be “immune” to disease.  If the causes of disease exist, then disease will ultimately exist as well.  By the same token, wherever disease exists, its REAL causes can also be found.

Poison does not strengthen the body, it weakens it

The body does NOT create new defensive faculties in response to a poison. Rather it has its extant defensive faculties compromised or destroyed every time it has to deal with a poison.  It is NOT like a muscle that gets stronger with use.  It’s like a vehicle tire that gets thinner with every use.  Every use brings it closer to the time when the tire is no longer able to hold air inside.  Continuing with that metaphor, if cars were like bodies, they might take a little of the leather from the seats to put on the tire to help it hold up.  That way the car will continue going down the road.  But the seats are now nothing but bare springs and foam rubber.  Do you see the parallel? The COST of fixing one problem always results in the creation of another.  In the case of bodily problems, the body must always borrow from its bank of vital reserves.

The lie of specificity

Conventional ‘wisdom’ tells us the purpose of vaccination is to cause the body to produce specific antibodies against specific diseases.  But it doesn’t work that way.  If the body produces specific antibodies when vaccines and foreign serums are administered, it’s because these are the ones required to protect against the injected substances. They have nothing to do with any disease.  Injecting foreign substances into the body couldn’t possibly prevent disease. If it ever gave the appearance of doing that, it would only mean that dealing with the poison left no energy or vitality remaining to express symptoms.  That’s just this side of death, however!  Like a devitalized, medicated, enervated body, a dead body also does not express symptoms.  Our aim should never be to make our bodies MORE tolerant of poisons.  Sensitivity is strength.  Tolerance is weakness.  Babies have all their original vitality, and that’s why they’re so sensitive.

It’s a money-making game

Nobody’s calling out this titering nonsense for what it is. It’s essentially a veterinary invention intended to separate dog owners from their money in exchange for false peace of mind.  As usual; the vet industry has found a way to take advantage of something that would otherwise work against it.  In this case, it’s the increasing skepticism regarding the practice of vaccination.
